You will help shape the future of agriculture by:
- Production Manager is responsible for managing various departments such as Operations, Growing and IPM, Site phytosanitary standards, product Quality, Trials, Production planning, labor Management, Process management and other operational processes to Syngenta standards.
- Will follow the Company sales forecast and use the production planning standards to ensure that the departments achieve the required performance to deliver the seasonal work plan.
- Will plan and manage the required resources according to the seasonal work program to maximize quality and production, focusing on cost efficiency & continuous improvement methodologies.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for overall production of all crops growing at Alva site and achieving targeted QUOTIF.
- Manages the farm operations according to the protocols and process outlined.
- Responsible for all NPI, trials and new projects running on site.
- Over sees all activities and support different departments daily.
- Communications with all stake holders across the business and collaboration with all co-workers to support the business strategy.
- Manage performance of your team on a timely basis according to the HR guidelines.
- Prepares yearly budget for different cost centres and manages the expenditure.
- Manages the quality and consistency of our products according to the outlined standards.
- Responsible to engage the team and walk the fields for decision making process.
- Responsible to create KPI’s and manage on weekly bases to monitor the overall performance of each department.
- Ensure the overall phytosanitary of the site is up to the required standard.
- Ensures that all necessary infrastructures for production are in good condition and maintained well.Trains and coaches the team to enhance productivity and continuous improvements.

- Responsible for improving efficiencies across the departments and achieve annual cost saving targets.
- Ensures timely planting and crop maintenance is done according to schedules to achieve the required quality & production capacity.
- Leading and supporting the sites strategic & HSE objectives as a member of the Site Leadership Team.
- Oversees and manages the crop nutrition programs to ensure that the nutrient requirements of the crops are met.
- Ensures purity test or true to type tests are carried out in time to avoid any issues with mixture.
- Ensures that the IPM process is maintained effectively and all process are in place.
- Determines, review and manage all inputs for growth of the crops with appropriate regulatory and protocols and maintain records to ensures appropriate application is always done, and traceability is in place.
- Ensures compliance to Phyto-sanitary protocols to produce pest and disease-free products.
- Responsible for Analyses of scouting reports and make weekly spray programs for effective pest and disease control.
- Ensures that the weekly preventative spray programs are done on time and effective to control pests and diseases.
- Liaises with the supply planner to have overviews on forecast and production plan on weekly basis.
- Assesses labor requirement for all operations activities ahead of time to avoid any gaps for business continuity.
- Sets work targets and evaluate the team to identify areas for training and development.
- Review the master data in liaison with planners once the production plan is done.
- Ensures customer’s remarks related to quality are addressed in time for customers’ satisfaction.
- Enforces HSEQ rules and regulations and champions the implementation of the Syngenta HSEQ policy in all business operations.
- Any other tasks & projects as may be allocated from time to time.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing agricultural production sites.
- Masters or higher in Agronomy or Horticulture.
- Computer skills.
- Analytical ability & accuracy.
- Leadership experience required
- Growing and operations knowledge of large teams
- Good attention and observation to details
- Able to fulfil commitments on time
- Knowledge in production of ornamentals
Preferred Requirements
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred
