Job Summary:

Manage the seed conditioning processes and employees from arrival at the facilities until final product release for sales and shipping. Create and implement scheduling for all seed conditioning processes.  

Responsibilities:

  • Embrace, promote and demonstrate a safety-first culture
  • Maintain a clean, safe injury free work environment by ensuring health and safety requirements are understood and executed by all employees.
  • Oversee the training, promotions, and annual performance evaluations of employees.  Develop, implement, and ensure company and personal objectives are met.  Ensure standard operating procedures are maintained according to the guidelines and standards set to maintain quality and consistency within the Quality Management System.
  • Maintain and develop the Seed Conditioning Quality Management System.
  • Engage in employee development activities, provide coaching and follow the progressive disciplinary action guideline.
  • Work with Production to ensure planting dates and shipping priorities coincide. 
  • Creation of priority lists for scheduling according to established priority guidelines to maintain species and variety integrity, minimizing clean downs, and reducing costs.  Plan, schedule, coordinate and approve products through complete production cycle.
  • Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve timecard records, communicate, and implement company policy.
  • Interface with upper management, marketing, sales, production, research and maintenance managers on production schedules
  • Work to resolve (in the case of changes) labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Oversee the master schedule and ensure comprehensive compliance with quality requirements in the processing of seed (sweet corn seed, popcorn seed, onion seed).  Ensure products are available to ship to customers according to market requirements.
  • Prioritize production schedules
  • Plan and administer procedures and metrics for accomplishing calibrations, repairs, and production.
  • Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenses and labor.  Management of cost awareness and improvement efficiencies to minimize process costs and overtime while maintaining lot integrity throughout all processes.
  • Communicate to all appropriate parties’ errors and/or issues.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing with 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Prior experience supervising employees and strong people management skills.
  • Experience in scheduling processes and seeing them through.
  • Work Collaboratively with colleagues 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong listening, evaluating, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.
  • High degree of proficiency of PC skills, including MS Office.
  • Willingness to work seasonal overtime, weekend, and evening oversight.
