Research Scientist (m/f/d) Yield Physiology in Sugar Beet Breeding

We are looking to recruit – as soon as possible – a Research Scientist (m/f/d) in the Genomics Team within our Sugar Beet Breeding department on a permanent, full time contract at KWS Saat SE & Co. KGaA located in Einbeck, Germany.
You will interact closely with internal experts to design projects in the field of yield physiology and abiotic stress in sugar beet. For the curation of data generated in these projects a strong background in plant physiology, OMICs approaches and bioinformatic skills is needed. The position is within the Sugar Beet Breeding department – your task will be to plan breeding activities and field experiments to develop and test germplasm for improved performance, making use of new phenotyping approaches.
Your tasks:
- Develop approaches for trait improvement together with molecular and physiological scientists and breeders
- Design and conduct field experiments for the evaluation of newly developed germplasm
- Closely interact with sugar beet breeders to integrate new material into the breeding process
- Bioinformatic analysis of OMICs data
- Contribute to the further development of OMICs related tools and databases
- Close interaction with colleagues from breeding, bioinformatics and molecular biology
Your profile:
- PhD or higher qualification in plant physiology or molecular biology
- Strong background in the analysis of OMICs data making use of bioinformatic tools
- Solid know-how of R, Phyton, Linux
- Affinity to genetics and plant breeding
- Strong communication skills to guarantee a smooth and constructive collaboration across department borders
- Team-player skills and high level of commitment
- Excellent English skills (spoken and written); Knowledge of German is a plus
- Readiness to travel
