Partner Manager, Seed and Plant Biotechnology

Located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, the Partner Manager will lead and manage our business relationship with key commercial seed partners. Working closely with the Project Teams, the Partner Manager will represent BASF Plant Science (BPS) to the commerical partner and the partner within BPS, to maximize the benefits and value of the contractual relationship. The Partner Manager will assume responsibility for implementation of the contract between BPS and commercial partners through thorough knowledge of the partner personnel, contractual obligations, principles and the spirit of the contract. The individual will work closely with the Project Manager, Strategic Marketing and the Finance Team to compile a comprehensive view and record of partner revenue forecasts and results. Further, this position will support the Director, Partner Management in negotiations of new partner contracts and extensions.
Additional primary responsibilities of the position are:
- Management of a major partnership, or multiple partnerships, depending on the scope and complexity
- Measure and steer project partnership to financial success, ensuring costs of the project are aligned with business opportunity. Ownership of partner P&L.
- Collaborate with the partner to estimate and validate market assumptions for projects in pre-launch phase
- Provide input to partner commercialization activities, monitoring all market commercialization by a partner with BPS traits to ensure compliance with terms of relationship and optimization or market opportunity
- Communication linkage for partner and BPS including business interaction at all levels
- Identifies opportunities to enhance or expand the business relationship within the framework of the partnership to optimize the return to BPS

Required:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in business, agriculture or technical area.
- Agriculture, seed and/or plant biotechnology industry experience.
- A minimum of 10-12 years related sales and marketing experience, including a background in technical development, understanding of value chain, and managing external customer relationships.
- Strong financial acumen, comfortable with financial aspect of partner management.
- Strong leadership and influence skills and people management experience, with a history of leading employees and teams to success.
- Strong interpersonal skills and evidence that candidate can successfully work in a strong team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with good command of contemporary written and audiovisual tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, and Office Suite software.
Preferred:
- MBA-Prior experience in a role with global responsibilities.
- Technical or science background in agriculture, seed and/or plant biotechnology. This position is within a job family and will be filled at a level applicable to the incumbent's qualifications.
