Within the global research organization of the Field Seeds Division, in a new Trait and Technologies organization, we are expanding our research efforts and opening a senior bioinformatician position to join the biostatistics / bioinformatic platform.

The bioinformatics team provides methods and tools to organize, structure and make available genomic data to support breeding applications and gene discovery efforts. The team also contributes to the development of new data generation technologies in the lab. This activity is critical for the trait discovery pipeline and downstream for gene editing activities as well as for the efficiency of our breeding efforts.

MAIN ACTIVITIES :

• You will strongly contribute to the definition and execution of our strategy on those topics and develop a vision on the efficient integration of multiple data sources.
• You will oversee the survey of new bioinformatic tools and concepts that could improve our efficiency, and you will build a network of key partners.
• You will act as an internal expert in bioinformatics applied to support identification of genes of interests combining efficiently genetic and genomic tools and resources.
• You will bring forward solutions and innovations to strengthen the efficiency of our trait-based breeding approach.
• You will bring expertise on the treatment of omics data beyond the data generation step.
• You will contribute to the training and support of the different research teams on your expertise.
• You will play a key role in implementing new tools and methods while ensuring the IT tools are ready in time and you will contribute to users support.
• You will be part of the research community and contribute to the scientific emulation within Limagrain and especially within Limagrain Field Seeds Research.
• The position reports to the head of biostatistics & bioinformatics within our Chappes research center, gathering different scientific skills and breeding teams.

PROFILE :

• PhD in Bioinformatics Computational/Quantitative Genetics.
• Strong demonstrated knowledge in bioinformatics applied to trait discovery
• Creative and innovative you have a record of implementing solutions and tools in line with research needs.
• You have an active network of academic and industry contacts
• You are proficient in programming with emphasis on developing workflows to handle, analyze, visualize and generate reports on large datasets. 
• You have the ability to work and manipulate files in a Linux or Unix environment, work with shell scripts or similar scripting program. Proficiency in R, Python or a similar data analysis-oriented language.
• A working knowledge of statistical analysis and optimization methods would be advantageous.
• You have managed research projects from conception to conclusion including organization and planification of the operations, analysis and interpretation of results
• Agile, you have experience with matrix organizations.
• You have a team-working spirit and possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills both verbal and written.
• You master English both oral and written. French speaking would be a plus.
