Intrexon Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate, Plant Traits with molecular biology skills for our growing Agricultural Biotechnology Division (ABD) at Davis, California. The candidate will join a team to work on innovative technology to develop various traits in crops. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with molecular techniques as well as supporting the senior scientist to develop other methodology to enable high-through-put, low-cost genotyping in multiple crops. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems in a fast-paced, milestone driven company, are essential.

Description: 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a key member of the ABD molecular biology team and work in partnership with other team members to innovate, implement, and advance PrimaVera™ platforms.
  • Sample collection, produce large quantity of RNA using existing protocols.
  • Help develop methods and assays for genotyping candidate plants and working in close collaboration with the team.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish project goals and milestones, troubleshoot challenges and discover solutions.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present results to team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or MS with 1-3 years of successful experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or plant biotechnology.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple projects with appropriate attention to detail with minimal supervision.
