Exciting opportunity to breed high-potential new crop species, Rubber Dandelion



Would you like to set up and run a breeding programme? Are you inspired by the idea of working on a high-potential new crop species? We are offering the exciting opportunity to work on breeding Rubber Dandelion for the sustainable and economical production of natural rubber in Europe. This exceptional species is capable of producing a large root mass with considerable natural rubber content. It is an alternative to the rubber tree as a source of natural rubber.

The company

KeyGene (www.keygene.com) and Barenbrug (www.barenbrug.com) have formed a new joint venture, Lion Flex BV. We focus on breeding and producing Rubber Dandelion for the sustainable and economical production of natural rubber. With our experience and expertise in plant breeding, we have access to great resources for establishing a successful breeding programme.
 


The position

You will develop the breeding programme’s strategy as well as realising its practical implementation. Besides breeding, you will be involved in optimising seed and root production in the open field. The position is full time and will be based in Wolfheze, the Netherlands.

Your profile

  • Motivated plant breeder.
  • Good scientific background as well as a practical mindset.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in plant breeding.
  • Work experience as a plant breeder is preferred.
