Based within intrexon’s Coalinga, California Botticelli™ laboratory, the Plantlet Production Lab Supervisor is responsible for, and has oversight of, laboratory operations, compliance with protocols and staff.
This role will require some travel to intrexon’s Agriculture Biotechnology Division in Davis, California for initial training (~2 – 3 weeks) and periodic check-in’s thereafter.

Description:
For this position, the candidate may be based from home or another location with a three (3) day per week onsite requirement in Coalinga, CA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the Botticelli™ Plantlet Production (BPP) staff.
- Additional duties include initiation of plants into tissue culture and plantlet production using established protocol; trouble shooting on as needed basis.
- Ensure laboratory procedures are performed in strict compliance with approved protocols.
- Maintain laboratory instruments, coordinates necessary repairs with appropriate service personnel and coordinates preventive maintenance.
- Ensure laboratory materials and supplies are kept at acceptable levels.
- Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and works with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish a safe and compliant environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates or Bachelors’ degree in plant biology preferred, or combination of education experience.
- Five (5) + year’s relevant experience in a plant tissue/cell culture environment.
- EH&S experience is desired.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office suite of programs including Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
