Production Technician (M/F)
Location: Almeria, Spain Context
Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan) and is responsible for the development and expansion of the activities across the EMEA area. Sakata’s Production team performs an essential role in realizing and securing the reliability of the production in order to supply the right quantity & quality at the right time.
Missions
This position is a great opportunity for a challenging person to realize short term actions in a long-term vision in an international environment. Within the Production department and under the supervision of our Production Specialist responsible for the Southern area of Spain, the main responsibilities are to:
- Execute the production programs on the station
- Apply and monitor activities related to the production programs: Plan the sowing, control the isolations, follow the crops, the roguing, the flowering, the harvests and all the cultural interventions
- Implement and follow the trial production nicking trial seed production
- Control the genetic purity of the varieties, the sanitary status of the field, etc ...
- Assure the timely and accurate delivery of year-end roguing and nicking trials report
- Manage, distribute and deliver stockseeds
- Register information on the internal software solution for the management seed production (Agreo)
- Be responsible for the producer relationship and ensure reporting
- Provide technical support by visiting and advising producers or suppliers
- Participate in meetings of local interprofessional organizations
Profile
- We are looking for candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience in farming, preferably in the vegetables/seeds sector.
- A degree in agronomy or horticulture is mandatory.
- The position requires an important autonomy level and organizational skills (well organized, with good planning skills).
- Problem-solving and customer-oriented thinking is the key to succeed in this position.
- Furthermore, it is important to have high level of reliability and to have to ability to adapt to changes and work in a multicultural team.
- Due to our activities across the EMEA area and our Japanese origin, good English skills (at least an understanding of technical terms) are necessary besides fluency in Spanish.
- Mastering the Office pack, especially Excel, Word and Outlook, is also requested for this position.
