Location: Made, The Netherlands

In this challenging job you will lead our active greenhouses tomato breeding team to develop innovative varieties for our customers (growers, trade & retail, and most important the "consumer") who are looking for improved plant performance, resistances, presentation, taste and many other characteristics.

You will be part of one of the largest networks of breeders (tomato and other crops), R&D tool developers, crop specialist and our worldwide production, commercial and marketing teams.
With your knowledge and leadership skills and the supervision of the Breeding Director, you will define the breeding strategy and develop a genetic improvement program to create new and original varieties in line with company business objectives and market needs.

Your background:

  • Practical person with good analytical skills and a MSc/PhD in plant breeding/genetics or related field;
  • Experience with modern vegetable breeding, statistics and experimental design;
  • Capable of managing a team;
  • Strong interest and background in molecular breeding techniques, database, and breeding support applications;
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills and keen eye for details;
  • Proficient in English, basic level of Dutch is a plus;
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a team player;
  • Willing to travel frequently to relevant markets.
