As Strategic Corn Marketing Manager, you will lead the process of developing and implementing mid and long-term product strategies to meet our Farmer customers’ needs. The outcomes are measured by customer penetration, market share and operating profit of the Syngenta Seeds Division which is influenced by product portfolio performance fit. You will actively manage interfaces between Research, Product Development, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Brand Marketing and Sales. You will align the strategy with Syngenta's portfolio of products to maximize revenue while aggressively managing costs. Also, coordinate cross-functional business activities to maximize efficiencies and business results. In this role, you will manages and control Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creation and accountable for the 5 year Crop Plan and strategy which includes the year plus 1 to 5 crop direction and trait strategies, NAFTA Corn & Soya acreage projections, new trait / genetics acquisition and commercialization
- Identify market opportunities while developing portfolio mix and lifecycle strategy
- Create the 5 Year Crop Plan under the direction of Head, Corn & Soya Marketing and in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Responsible for achieving the product portfolio compoents of the financial targets of the 5 Year Plan
- Manage the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Identify strategic Intellectual Property assets
- Work with Research and Licensing to identify tactical products, and acquire from the appropriate sources
- Oversee Product Managers in their execution of the portfolio plan, including trait mix development, advancements, production, inventory planning, directional price setting, forecast management, and develop labeling and packaging requirements
- Oversee Technology Product Manager in the development of mid and long term trait strategy, execution of the trait conversion process, implementation of new trait commercialization, stewardship and channeling
- Accountable for management of key FET data, product characterization
- Understand the customer (farmer) needs and journey
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the portfolio strengths and gaps based on Farmer needs and Syngenta Seeds objectives
- Will identify a path to strengthening the portfolio
- Communicate technical information to different audiences such as R&D, Sales, Customers and more
- Continually drive to improve talent and coach operational excellence with individuals and the overall team
- Make effective decisions under positive or difficult circumstances to reach the best possible result
- Foster a high level of accountability with collaborators
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field is required
- Masters’ Degree is preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Agriculture industry, specifically Seeds
- Sales Agronomy & Product Portfolio Management experience
