As the Global Crop Unit Head - Large Seeded Vegetables, you will lead medium to long term crop strategy and development across functions. You will be accountable for the global portfolio and delivery of the bottom line for the relevant crops and be the coordination and decision making body between Commercial, R&D and Seeds Operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead medium to long term crop strategy and development across functions
- Develop the mid to long-term portfolio strategy for the relevant crops across concerned functions (R&D, Production Operations and Commercial)
- Prioritize R&D resources for the short and mid-term
- Provide strategic guidance for relevant global platforms (PAM, SPP, etc.), including business guidance to steer 3rd party relationships
- Oversee the implementation of the crop business strategy across functions and regions
Leadership of the Global Crop Business Unit team
- Manage and coach the assigned Regional Portfolio Managers
- Lead a cross-functional team of Portfolio, R&D, P&S, Finance and any other relevant functional representatives to guide end to end management of the Global Regional Crop Business; develops collaborative ways-of-working and shared business understanding amongst the BU team members
- Lead or contribute to relevant VEG SE strategic decision platforms and processes in line with the blueprint (e.g. Seed Production Plans, S&OP, etc.)
- Steer or lead the cross-functional implementation of critical OU initiatives
- Drive the strategic Seeds E2E processes (global target product profiles, global range management thresholds, pricing, production planning, 15-year planning)
Accountable for the global portfolio and delivery of the bottom line for the relevant crops
- Responsible for the bottom-line for the assigned species, ensuring the achievement of relevant financial KPIs (sales, GM, working capital, inventory, business contribution, and so forth)
- Active involvement in setting the budget, LE and monitoring the in-season delivery of the budget for the designated crops, across Regions
- Lead the development of a robust, competitive and profitable portfolio, and secures solid quality and working capital management
- Drive agreement across functions and Regions / Territories for all critical decisions impacting OU profitability
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business or Marketing is required
- Expert level knowledge of Sweet Corn
- Experience in Horticulture or Agronomy
- Agribusiness experience
- Vegetable Seeds background, ideally with experience in the targeted species
- Strong business & finance acumen
- Experience in leading multi-functional teams
- Strong Marketing background
- Focus on creating value for our customers
- Understands market dynamics and competitive environment
- Analytical skills - ability to quickly understand complex situations
- Strong agronomic / technical knowledge (“green fingers”)
- Willingness to travel (40-50%)
- Fluent in English
