Limagrain Europe breeds, produces and commercializes field seeds to farmers (maize, sunflower, Oil seed Rape, wheat, barley…). Their products are sold in 50 countries through their 20 subsidiaries and many distributors. European leader in wheat, the LG brand is also n°1 in forage maize for animal nutrition and a main player in sunflower.

Main Goal

For Limagrain Europe (LE) Business Unit, you will lead the activities of Limagrain Sunflowers (LS) to attain with the local team the crop plan in terms of volume, quality, planning and cost. You will foster an operational culture founded on safety, results orientation and continuous improvement.

Job description

  • Oversee the management of Limagrain Sunflowers (CA), including HR, Financial and Material resource services
  • Lead Sunflower production activities to attain goals plan in terms of volume, quality, planning and cost :
    • Understand short and mid-term area goals in term of volume, quality, planning and cost.
    • Build/update area road map and define strategy to meet overall goals.
    • Manage the growers production network with a technical development approach.
    • Negotiate grower's contracts and ensure proper enforcement of contract terms.
    • Develop the California sunflower production plan and follow-up the crop throughout the year.
    • Follow-up the production subcontracted throughout the season.
    • Provide regular reporting to LE such as accurate production updates, crop evaluations, budget forecast…
    • Plan and check the harvest, in conjunction with the LE Planner and receiving plants.
    • Organize and supervise all processing operations from harvest to ready to ship, ensuring supply chain and quality requirement are met.
    • Negotiate contracts with local processing contractors.
    • Plan, organize and supervise seed shipments after processing, including export documentation and logistical requirements.
    • Ensure all activities are compliant with local regulatory rules and conducted following the company Safety Rules and Code of Conduct.
    • Work with the management to develop annual budget, determine the resources and workforce needs.
  • Drive area continuous improvement :
    • Drive grower performance (yield, seeds quality) continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovations as well as by managing growers performance & selection:
    • Supervise local Production Research activities.

Profile

  • Master degree in Agronomy or related field.
  • 10+ years background in similar activities and role.
  • Deep Agronomic knowledge
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience, customer oriented, operational decision making.
  • Achievement and result oriented, excellent communication skills, continuous improvement mindset.
  • Leadership skills, people development oriented
  • Strategic thinking

Candidate criteria

Minimum level of education required: Master 2 or equivalent

Minimum level of experience required: 10 years or more
