Project Lead Crucifers Genetics (M/F)
Fulltime, Warmenhuizen
In this position you are responsible for supporting the development of hybrid crucifer crops such as cabbage, cauliflower and radish by revealing the underlying genetics and genomics, and by accelerating our current molecular breeding programs in these crops. You are part of and interact closely with a multidisciplinary, international team of researchers, with different disciplines. As a Project Lead Crucifer Genetics, you are asked to combine project management skills with practical plant genetic activities. In this position, you are up to date of public advancements in crucifer research by staying in close contact with international research groups and interact in national and international projects
Main Responsibilities:
- The position of PL Crucifer genetics is based at the Crucifer R&D Station of Hazera in Warmenhuizen, The Netherlands. Since molecular lab activities nowadays generate a lot of data, data management/bioinformatics skills are preferred. Additionally, you will have close interaction with researchers in Hazera and within the Limagrain Vegetable Seeds (LVS) division, which requires travelling to LVS sites. You report to the Head of Trait & Technologies Allium & Crucifers of Hazera.
- Initiate, lead and execute multidisciplinary research projects aimed at trait and molecular marker identification and innovating the breeding processes with regard to molecular breeding;
- Strengthen the knowledge base of the company within the field of genetics and genomics, and expanding our freedom-to-operate and intellectual property position
- Provide direct and functional leadership to individuals and teams;
- Maintain, build and leverage internal and external networks to support delivery of business goals.
Preferred profile:
- PhD in Genetics or related fields within the Life Sciences;
- Strong data analytical and organizational skills;
- Experience in the field of molecular bioinformatics is preferred.
- Experience in Plant Genetics or Qualitative Genetics is a plus;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Working experience in or with the (seed) industry;
- Excellent command of the English language;
- Driver’s license.
