Scientist, Biometrics and Quantitative Genetics

Location: Metslawier, The Netherlands

Your contribution
Within the Biometrics/Quantitative Genetics (BMQG) team we are looking for a Scientist with proven skills in Quantitative Genetics in (plant) breeding.

Your profile
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Scientist in the field of biometrics, genomic prediction, multivariate data analyses and modelling with expertise of physiological/biological processes and their genetic basis. Skills in plant, animal and/or human quantitative genetics are required for this position.

  • You have an academic degree or PhD in biometrics and/or quantitative genetics.
  • You have well developed biometrical skills for design of experiments (DOE), quality control and analysis of complex multivariate phenotypic and genotypic data.
  • You are experienced in the application of genomic prediction and selection procedures.
  • You are capable of converting new relevant scientific developments in routine and practical applications.   
  • You have natural programming skills in various computer languages.
  • You can work independently and have project management skills.
  • You have communicative skills and you are a team player.

Your opportunity
Together with your colleagues of Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Quality, Plant Pathology and Breeding you will develop and implement phenotyping and genotyping protocols and use these traits in novel genomic prediction and selection procedures. Another important task will be to build a bridge between R&D, commercial departments and customers worldwide by giving quantitative support and provide solutions/advice based on solid data-analysis. Within HZPC you have the unique possibility to be involved in a number of internal and external projects, while working closely together and interacting with teams all over HZPC worldwide.
