After seven years of cooperative development with the US Department of
Agriculture, Seedbiotics
is proud to announce the introduction of SB2000, the only organic-based polymer for seed treatment on the market.
Dr. Bing-Rui Ni, a seed physiologist and Seedbiotics' Director of Research & Development and Dr. Damodar Patil, a polymer chemist, have brought the polymer to its final formulation.
SB2000 heralds an entirely new generation of seed applied polymers. Polymers are now used for more uniform application of seed treatments, controlling 'dust off' of these treatments, and improving the appearance of the seed.
Not only does SB2000 reduce dust-off as well as any petrochemical-based polymer, it also dramatically improves seedling emergence. In chill conditions, SB2000 has been able to increase seedling emergence by up to 30%. Under normal conditions, SB2000 still has shown an increase in emergence.
Starch-based SB2000 is easier to apply, and can be stored longer, than petrochemical-based polymers.
Seedbiotics is focusing on corn, soybeans and edible beans in its first round of development, although there are a number of other crops showing strong promise of benefiting from this
polymer.
