Golden
Harvest has elected new officers and appointed two new members to its board of directors, according to Jim Shearl, executive vice president of Golden Harvest Seeds, Inc.
Elected to serve for the 1999-2000 term are:
- James T. Sommer, Sommer Bros. Seed Co., president;
- Douglas L. Garwood, Garwood Seed Co., vice president;
- Rob Robinson, The J.C. Robinson Seed Company, appointed to the board and elected secretary;
- Nelson I. Thorp, Thorp Seed Co., appointed to the board and elected treasurer; and
- Bill Werner, Golden Seed Co., L.L.C., past president.
The new board will serve until Sept. 30, 2000. "This new board is putting an emphasis on dealing with dramatic change in the seed industry," says Shearl. "The way business is handled in agriculture is changing every day, and the challenges ahead for this board are great.
But the aggressiveness Golden Harvest has shown in the last 25 years lays the foundation for
this brand to continue to build market share in the United States."
