Cucurbit growers can now rely on a
new disease control option with the recent federal registration
by the EPA of Sovran® fungicide from
BASF for use in cucurbit
vegetables.
“Cucurbits are particularly susceptible to powdery mildew,” said
Reed Barrett, Marketing Associate for BASF, “and Sovran works
well in controlling this disease. Its Surface Systemic Activity®
provides more complete coverage of the plant, protecting all
leaf surfaces from disease infection at a great value to the
grower.”
Cucurbits—such as cantaloupe, chayote, Chinese waxgourd, citron
melon, cucumber, gherkin, gourds, Momordica, muskmelon, pumpkin,
summer squash, winter squash, watermelon and zucchini—now join
grapes, apples, pears and other pome fruits and pecans on the
Sovran label.
Sovran provides optimum disease control when applied in a
regularly scheduled protective fungicide program and used in a
spray program that rotates fungicides with different modes of
action. Refer to the Sovran label for general resistance
management information and to the crop-specific recommendations
and restrictions found on the label.
