The Context Network offers new regulatory compliance service for seed and biotechnology companies

.

West Des Moines, Iowa
August 7, 2007

The Context Network is providing a new regulatory compliance service for seed and biotechnology companies.

“Today’s seed and biotechnology developments are helping producers and their seed providers produce more, be more competitive and respond to a constantly changing marketplace,” says Mike Borel, Partner, of The Context Network.

“To make sure that today’s technology is available for long-term use, it is essential seed and biotechnology providers have a seed and trait stewardship program that helps them comply with all required government and private trait licensing procedures.”

Context’s new regulatory compliance service provides seed and biotechnology companies with assistance programs to ensure they are in compliance with seed trait stewardship and regulatory requirements. Experienced professionals at Context have been helping management in all companies develop and implement trait stewardship programs for a number of years. Context’s new service program capabilities include:

  • Developing procedures and protocol for implementing best practices for trait stewardship and regulatory compliance (i.e. FDA, EPA, state agencies, etc.).
  • Reviewing and recommending upgrades to current procedure and protocol.
  • Preparing handbooks for employees and/or customers (i.e. grower, dealers, distributors, processors, partners, etc.).
  • Creating a tracking system for all compliance issues and cases (includes dates, personnel used, results, action required, etc.).
  • Investigating and/or managing compliance issues and/or cases.
  • Developing a system for prioritizing cases that is compatible with other company systems.
  • Developing and delivering compliance and regulatory education and training programs.
  • Conducting on-site compliance/regulatory visits.

Leading Context’s efforts in this new area is Paul Corzine. Corzine had previously served as the trait stewardship as director of the compliance department/stewardship education coordinator for STEP, Inc., an independent service provider to biotechnology and seed companies. While at STEP, Corzine supervised onsite compliance audits performed on licensed dealers and growers and assisted in dealer network education efforts.
