STA Laboratories is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Judit Monis as Manager of Plant Health Services. 

Dr. Monis received her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin in 1989, and has over 15 years of plant diagnostics and disease eradication experience. Her previous experience was setting up a state-of-the-art grapevine disease testing laboratory for Agritope, Inc. The work performed in this lab pioneered the present testing methods used in industry and government labs. Dr. Monis was also the European Pathology Manager at Seminis Vegetable Seeds.  Her experience also includes a short period at PPQ APHIS USDA working on developing methods for diagnostics for pathogens of quarantine importance and “select agents”.

The hiring of Dr. Monis completes STA Laboratories plans to expand our services to offer an all-inclusive diagnostic testing services to agriculture, especially the viticulture, fruit, vegetable and ornamental industry. The new Plant Health Services Business Unit will apply Dr. Monis’ expertise related to reliability and sensitivity of disease diagnostics, bring new tests to the market and continue to maintain STA’s high quality standards of testing.
