Sequence herbicide registered in the U.S. for use on soybeans - Provides growers residual and contact control of weeds in a single, simple step
Greensboro, North Carolina
October 26, 2004

Sequence® herbicide, from Syngenta Crop Protection, which provides nonselective down-to-the-roots weed control combined with residual weed control in one application, is now available for use on soybeans.

"With the recent U.S. EPA registration of Sequence on soybeans, our herbicide portfolio now offers growers a broad range of products to fit their needs," said Corey Huck, Sequence brand manager. "Sequence will be available to soybean growers who desire an herbicide that offers both superior weed control and weed resistance management capabilities in one product."

A premix of potassium glyphosate (Touchdown®) and S-metolachlor (Dual MAGNUM®), Sequence controls a broad-spectrum of broadleaf weeds and grasses in glyphosate-tolerant soybeans. A convenient premix applied in one simple step, the herbicide offers two unique modes of action with glyphosate providing down-to-the-root foliar activity, while the S-metolachlor component acts to control weeds before they emerge.

"By combining the broad-spectrum weed control of Touchdown with the residual weed control of Dual MAGNUM, Sequence is a complete herbicide for soybeans that combines two unique modes of action to help with weed resistance management," said Chuck Foresman, technical brand manager for Sequence. "There are no known weed biotypes confirmed resistant to S-metolachlor in the USA, making this specially-designed product an outstanding choice for growers seeking diversity in their chemical rotations."

Sequence provides residual and contact control of more than 170 types of weeds, including barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, fall panicum, common lambsquarters and pigweed.

Designed for post-emergence use, Sequence should be applied to glyphosate-tolerant soybeans prior to the 3rd trifoliate with application rates from 2.5 to 3.0 pints per acre. It will deliver one to three weeks residual weed control on several grasses and small-seeded broadleaves. Sequence may also be used in conventional soybeans pre-emergence.
